Nvidia, with its cutting-edge chips powering the artificial-intelligence (AI) revolution, is at the forefront of transforming industries worldwide. However, according to Chief Executive Jensen Huang, while AI will undoubtedly revolutionize the way we work, human jobs aren’t simply going to vanish.

In a recent interview with CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” Huang emphasized that as AI enhances companies’ productivity, they will naturally expand. “The workers work for companies,” he explained. “And so companies, when they become more productive, earnings increase. I’ve never seen one company that had earnings increase and not hire more people.”

Despite the potential for certain jobs to become obsolete due to AI advancements, Huang stressed the importance of human involvement. He believes that humans possess unique judgment capabilities that machines simply can’t replicate. “I believe that you still want humans in the loop,” Huang told “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, “because we have good judgment, because there are circumstances that the machines are just not going to understand.”

While discussing Nvidia’s latest GPU chips, known as Blackwell, Huang expressed boundless optimism about AI’s capabilities. He highlighted its potential in areas like drug discovery and material design, emphasizing that AI can help humanity explore frontiers beyond our current reach.

Nvidia’s remarkable performance in the stock market reflects investors’ confidence in its AI-driven future. Despite a recent slight dip in Nvidia shares, they have surged by an impressive 77% year-to-date and over 200% in the past 12 months. This growth has propelled Nvidia into the exclusive league of U.S. companies valued at over $2 trillion, alongside tech giants like Microsoft, Apple, and Alphabet.

With Nvidia’s quarterly earnings report scheduled for May 22, anticipation is high for another stellar performance after the company exceeded its top-line outlook by nearly $2 billion in its February report.

As AI continues to evolve and shape industries, Nvidia remains a key player driving innovation and transformation. While the landscape of work may change, Huang’s insights remind us that human ingenuity and collaboration will remain indispensable in the age of AI.
